Grand Master Sung B. Kim founded Transcending Martial Arts in 1994, alongside his wife Mrs. Keum Kim and his son, Grand Master Jae Kim. He has been studying martial arts for more than 65 years and has spent his life educating quality black belt martial artists in both Korea and Canada.
Kum Do
At seventeen he became the first captain of the Korean National Kum Do Team, travelling to cities across Japan to compete against Japanese Kum Do and Budo martial artists. He specializes in the art of the sword, bamboo sword fighting, edged weapons, and contact self defense.
Teaching Philosophy
Over more than thirty years in Canada he has taught the TMA System alongside his son, integrating physical training with traditional philosophy. His belief that martial arts is a way of life remains the foundation the studio is built on.
